Fun LD Tennis Day a Success for All

On Wednesday 31st May 2017, Delta Tennis Centre played host to the second LD Celebratory Tennis day organised by Special Olympics Swindon, in partnership with the Tennis Foundation and Wilts LTA.

As with the previous year both the Wednesday (adult) and Sunday (junior) tennis groups came together to participate in a number of fun and inclusive activities set up by coaches Alan Elbourn, Richard Overton and Peter Dodds. Each participant gave 100% and there was lots of skill and effort displayed throughout the afternoon by everyone which was amazing to see.

After the games had been played there was a presentation and certificates were given out to every participant. Medals and other prizes were given to the athletes who had scored the most points during the games.

A big thank you must go to all of the coaches and volunteers who made the afternoon a great success and a special well done to the athletes for putting in such an amazing effort.

Successful season for Special Olympics Swindon

On Sunday 30th April the Wiltshire Ability Counts Football League came to a conclusion after a fantastic season of competitive, inclusive football.  With tournaments taking place over six Sundays throughout the year at three different venues the league offers the opportunity to those with a disability the opportunity to play football in a safe and positive environment.

Playing in their second season but first competitively, Special Olympics Swindon finished the season in 4th place. The team managed to win 12 matches throughout the season which is testament to all of the hard work they have put in during their Monday afternoon training sessions.

A big congratulations must go to Swindon Town Football in the Community who were impressive throughout and won the league having lost just one game all season.

If you would like to become part of our amazing team or know somebody that would like to play football on a regular basis then Special Olympics can provide that opportunity for you.
